what is your opinion about engine and road noise?

For me the engine noise is a non issue. Barely noticeable.

The whole car is quieter... so you're going to hear more noise. Bigger wheels and lower profile tires are noisier and impact the ride quality.
If you want a quiet and compliant ride... get 17" wheels and tires.
You'll have the same issue with any other car on the market.

Engine too noisey
I currently have the RX350 which I downsized from the Gx470 and I have to say that the engine is noticeably noiser than the GX470. I may not be comparing apples to apples since the GX is a V8 vs the RX's V6. The noise is evident when I drive on speeds less than 40 mph. In highway driving, it's not too noticeable. I plan to take the car in this weekend to have it checked. Has anyone taken their car to the dealer and have the engine fixed so that it's more quieter? Thanks.

A V8 has a lower engine noise or tone... so it's going to be less obtrusive and sound more like background noise.

Totally agree with you. I also expected way less noise!
I will tell you more. The seat belt adjuster on driver's side makes rattling noises when on bouncing road. It's right in your left ear. It's annoying. Addressed it with service they said it's by specs. They compared to other new models and same thing. I also compared and heard it on same cars. You pay almost 50K to have noise by specs?

After owning 2010 RX350 for about three weeks now and i think that engine is too noisy for the first 20 minutes or so and up to the speed of 50kmph. i did not drive any Lexus before my purchase. i trusted the brand. Also there is lots of road noise near the rear side doors. no wind noise what so ever from the front. does any body else feels the same or is it just me? otherwise this is cool little car to drive. but, Lexus and noise didn't make sense.
But it's a new car, new features, and new sounds. It's well enough insulated it doesn't bother me. Actually to me it sounds more throaty than the 'whine' my RX 300 had.

Yes, the third generation does have more engine noise than our second generation. I have even noticed a difference between one RX third generation and another of the same. So far I have noticed more engine noise in an acceleration from 35+/- mph than from a dead stop.
