I have used my 2.5" laptop SATA drive. Put it in external enclosure with dual USB one for power and the other for usb connection next to AUX. Works fine, though it take a while to load folders. I do however have another problem. every time i connect my Ipod Mini with 32 gig storage card RX 350 doesn't recognize it and my ipod min says "do not disconnect". Any suggestions? Iphone 16gigs works fine.

By the way it is an 80 gig HD, but the problem is i can only scroll through folders and files. Iphone gives me all kinds of options, like albums and playlists and so on. I had an old ipod mini that i moded with a 32gig card and it works fine by itself but not in the car.
so i am stuck with HD.

AC3 files will not play through the usb option. The AC3 files, although on the memory stick, don't even show up as folders on the screen in the RX. In i-tunes you can right click the music files and convert to MP3. As for AC3 and your iPod, all AC3 files will work with your iPod when connected to you RX.

i got the double usb cable and hooked up my 80gb hd. worked like a charm. i also noticed that sound quality is better than the ipod (may be it is just me). i wonder if the system will recognize any kind of play lists as a file?

Any music file with MP3 or WMA would be recognized by the system. Any other music files will be ignored and skipped. The screen won't even show their names/folders.
As ppl described before, iTune can easily convert any files into MP3 format.
(In week 1, I saved tons of music files into my USB, but didn't realize this MP3 stuff...)
