Owned our new RX for a week now and yesterday was the first time I've spent time in the passenger seat using the head rest. On moderately
ruff surfaces or expansion joints my head is constantly banging againt the
head rest. I have never experienced that kind of head banging in any of
the other cars I have owned. Maybe with the suspension change these
undulations are the consequence. I don't know what I can do about it other
than try putting some weight in the back or trading it in. Has anyone else
experienced this?

That's the first thing I changed. Dealer had them at 35psi. Lowered them to 32psi. Didn't notice it when driving because I didn't use the headrest. If you
spend enough time against the headrest you will experience it. My car can't be unique.

If you think the RX is bad, you should try to ride in a GS or IS, their ride is way too stiff for its handling. Lexus knows how to make soft suspension, which is not too hard, but they have yet to make a suspension in any of their cars that handles well and at the same time, ride smoothly. The only exception is the GS460 with the APSSS option, which is a electronic active suspension.

tigerbait, yes I have as well and I'm not at all happy about it. I've tried the tire pressure song and dance too, without much success. Do you have the 19" tires? I suspect that makes it a little worse. It seems bad enough to me that I wonder if there's something wrong with my car in particular. It just doesn't ride like a luxury vehicle (except during the test drive of course)! :-) The sad thing is, everything else about it is fantastic. I'm going to talk to the dealer and see if there's anything that can be done.

When I took delivery of my 2010 I couldn't wait to try it on the bumpy roads near my work. I assumed it would be better, or at least as good as the 2008. It was a lot worse. So I can safely say there has been a significant change in the ride from at least 2008 - 2010. In general the 2010 blows the old one away. But in this instance it's a huge step back.

They absolutely changed the suspension in 2010, to a double wishbone design. It's supposed to be better for body roll and wallowing.
Do you, by chance, have the Sport Package as part of your options?

No sports package. Maybe the buckboard package. Haven't even mentioned the wind noise. Salesman said the 09 is quieter because they put the larger side mirrors on the 2010. The wind noise I can live with. The head banging I can't.
