Default Tire monitoring system really works

Yesterday i was flying down the turnpike and apparently ran over something that cut my tire. The monitoring system immediately came on and showed me which tire was damaged. As i frantically searched for a tire shop I could watch the tire pressure slowly go down. A tire shop put on the donut and I was off to a dealer who was able to match the other three 19" tires exactly with a new one. I was only two hours late to work. You really got to like Lexus.

Default Good for those 450h RXers...

So far, 450h has this exclusive feature showing the real numbers of tires' pressure...

350 only gets the warning alert.

Why the title? did you think Lexus would put in a safety system in their car that doesnt work?

I love the individual tire pressure feature. But like someone in another thread previously said, be careful you don't break one rubbing against a curb or something. I was talking to the service dept today and telling them how much I like them. They said they sure are nice, $350 per wheel nice. He even showed me how they work, quite elaborate. And my deductible is $500. Oh well, I don't parallel park.

I had a Toureq a few years back, the tire monitoring system was a joke.

LOL! in the nine months i've had my GS450h, i've only parallel parked once! but back to your comment - if you need to parallel, just stay a medium distance from the curb. it will keep your wheels in tip top condition for years to come.

well with the optional side view camera, parallel parking should be easy when you got the backup camera too!

here in san francisco, i parallel park at least once a day, they are everywhere.

as for the 450 getting individual tire pressure, that is news to me! good news. did they put this little detail in print somewhere?

Owner Manual Section 4-3 does have some info, but it doesn't detail the whole info. Does 450h come up with the different manual which shows more stuff?

Jim--I said my 99 vette has the sensors which show the TP and I broke one the first year whicle coming home on a motor trip.

the air came out of the tire--had to stay Overnite in Joplin and found a goodyear place that was equiped to handle run flat tires but did not have a replacement tire valve--so they put in a regular one which got me home and the dealer gave me one under warranty (and smiled) and sent me across the street to another goodyear dealer which had the run flat equipment (the deale rdid not have the equipment then) .

All is well and I learned a lesson about protecting wheels.

Actually, I switched to firestone run flats and the way they designed the tires they have an outer edge "lip" which extends out past the wheel to protect the wheel and as long as the tire stem is not too long it protects the stem too--

my new bimmer has bridgestones run flats which does not have that feature. Nor does it show tire pressure--just alerts you with idiot lites when something goes wrong.

Our RX450h has individual tire pressure readings. However, I do not yet know which reading is for which tire. This system is the same as the one on my LS460L.

Should be; lf, rf, lr, rr. I haven't found anything that say's that, but that would be the logical sequence.
