Thumbs down A/C Issues??

Hi Guys/Gals..

Had my first 2010 RX 350 loaner today as our GS was in for service..

Had some A/C issues while driving around. Basically the A/C would blow very hot air (like the compressor was not even on) in about 15-20 min intervals! Had it set to MAX COLD and would cool down nice and good for 15-20 min, then blow hot air again. Almost like there was something wrong with the compressor. Drove around for a total of 3 hours and most time fan was blowing "outside" air, which is a "cool" 95 degs here in Houston!

Loaner only had 2000 miles on it. Was a "2T2" vin...

Just wondering if anyone else encountered this problem with their 2010 RX.

Makes me nervous as we will be taking del of ours in a few months time.

I wouldn't worry about your RX that is forthcoming. It sounds like something very obvious on this loaner. It's a "fluke" and I'm sure the dealer can easily fix it.

Well... my AC has been working great since Day 1. "Most" of time it blows cool/cold air quickly and efficiently, except once in June, the outsides temp was around 73, the driver side setting was 71, the passenger side's was 73. The driver side blew the super cold air, but the passenger side had the hot air...

Does RX10 have the solar sensor with AC?

it is more like a firmware configure/setup problem than any physics defects. if the compression real broken you cant expect it could work again and so timing acurate.
Dealer might just mass up the setup in that lexus. so you seems can't real control that lexus weather system but it was doing auto testing for temperature.

It sounds like a defect but it also sounds like you have the auto vent/recycle on in which case if it detects that it needs to take in outside air it will. I'm not sure if that's what's happening but maybe try putting it in recycle mode only and see if it still does it.

i can attest that the A/C on the new RX is doing a pretty good job, here in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia we currently have average daytime temp about 42-44 Celsius, which is like 110-120 Fahrenheit every damn day almost since mid-June but the A/C seems to cope with it fine and is able to cool the interior quickly.

i do have heat/uv tint which probably helps as well.

Thanks guys for the input..

I only had the recycle button on and set to max cold, so something was up. Will let the dealer know. Maybe they have it set up some weird way..

BTW Dous.. The RX takes a H11 bulb for the fogs and wedge bulb for the small lights above the daytime running lights.

Maybe the dealer knows. That is why he put this vehicle out to pasture so early in its "dealer life cycle". Usually a vehicle moves down the food chain.... demo...... loaner fleet........ used car lot.

Way down in the personal settings menu there are several obscure A/C options that result in this condition. I tried it and put back to default right away. It is part of the set up on the nav screen or it can be accessed through the display on a non nav version. I suspect this is what caused the issue.

Thanks KC001.

Hopefully that was the case.

I am certain that the AC button was pushed.. Can't survive very long here in Texas without it on
