Front seat ventilation cooling fan sound
#17
Fans
I agree they are weak for the amount of noise - but they do offer some cooling at least.
I wonder how the system looks - anyone seen a technical drawing - perhaps the fans can be changed with a larger, lower RPM unit for more CFM and less noise?
PS: the technical name of the ventilated seats is S.A.P.S.
i.e. Swamp *** Prevention System

Sunny hot days in DC, plus my black RX interior, make for an oven when I get in the car after work. Still like the black, but boy is it hot. I haven't been impressed by the cooling seats so far. And I do hear the noise at stoplights. I just had my 5k service and I forgot to ask about it. I'll take it up with them at my 10k.

According to the specifications, the RX fan ventilates; there is no cooling unit, unlike the LS for instance. Cooling in a confined space like a car seat requires a small "Peltier" thermoelectric device (heat pump), which when current is applied transfers or removes heat from one side of the thermoelectric device to the other resulting in chilled air. They are also used in camping or portable coolers as well as small USB drink chillers.
