In some cars, they require or suggest a break-in period, which includes keeping the RPMs low below 3,000 revolutions per minute for the first 1000 kms. I heard from some folks, though, that because the engines are all computer precision "cut", that you don't require to do so.

How many of you actually took the liberty of breaking-in your RX, which probably included driving 80km/hr on a 100 hwy? LOL

My 08 GS still recommands break in, I think it was 800 miles. Break in doesnt mean start under 3000 rpm, you want to vary your rpm so all the gears gets use. Dont stay at one speed for a long time and no jack rabbit start. Also no hard braking for the 1st 200 miles unless you have to of course.

To extend the life of the vehicle, observing the following precautions is recommended:

For the first 200 miles (300 km):
Avoid sudden stops.

For the first 500 miles (800 km):
Do not tow a trailer.

For the first 1000 miles (1600 km):
• Do not drive at extremely high speeds.
• Avoid sudden acceleration.
• Do not drive continuously in low gears.
• Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods.

I do follow this although I'm the driver loving speeding.
Never went over 55 before 800 miles; 65 before 1k.
ECO light was "always" ON during this period of time.
Never stay in the same speed or same RPM more than 20 seconds.




IMHO, you don't have to really follow these... it's your choice and preference.
