How Do You Track Rx350's Arrival?
#3
Yeah, Lobster it is not an easy thing to do. I actually ended up cancelling my 450h order because the dealer kept giving me the "any day now" thing for weeks. Luckily, I found a dealer 20 miles away with the car in stock.

The dealer can give you a printout once it leaves the factory--it wil tell you what ship its on and the port of entry, along with ETA at port
then, there is a Prius board like this that has different websites to track the ships. They use google maps and its kind of interesting. After it reaches port and depending which port and where you are, its a crap shoot for the rest of the trip. Figure 3 days at port for the add ons or whatever they do there, figure the trip by rail at 300 miles per day, and then another 2-3 days once the train drops it off--times may differ :-) depending on where you are and where the rail yard is. ie--I think Anita is in New Jersey near the port and that cuts a lot of time off-same for someone in LA which is the port where mine came thru.

No, I don't play soccer!
My sales guy mentioned numbers like 12 means in port, 8 is in transit. I might have it reversed. Yes, the port is close to me and the dealer, less than 25 miles. But it still takes 3-5 days to get from port to dealer.
I like the Prius board. Too bad Lexus is not as innovative

I found some websites on how to track a vessel. I entered the vessel name (Bellona) in my case but had not luck finding it. Your dealer can give you a print-out (vehicle inquiry report) that shows the name of the vessel that your car will be ariving on. I found all the info like call sign, lenght, etc. I think the ship just wasn't reporting position. There was a lot of vessels show on the map at sea but no Bellona. Here is a link to the website to track vessels http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shi...tml?call=sfea4

I hear ya, I'm in the same boat impatiently waiting for the car to be built and shipped. Too bad there isn't any reasonable tracking method other than checking in with the dealer.

deusex, have you gotten a ship date from the dealer? They should be able to provide that.
My special order goes in tomorrow to CA, then Japan. Dealer gets the build date and ship date. And it takes a month to come from Japan. I'm looking at 3 to 4 months so it might be Christmas for me There has to be a better way.
