Joe G I think it is ridiculous how long it is taking them to fix your car. I think they should just replace with a brand new RX.

Lexus will not replace it since it is not a manufacturer deflect.

Trust me - I agree. Situation su***!
We tried to get into a new RX. We were willing to pay for the 3000 original miles we put on the car. To get the exact car, same options, they wanted another $8K. The car was 6 months old!
The carfax that is now on the car is a MAJOR problem.

Interesting. In NJ if you recover under lemon law you have to pay for mileage. Why they didn't take you up on your offer is beyond me because obviously they can be facing bigger costs down the line.

Hey Anita - remember car is registered in N.Y. not N.J.- due to the carfax the dealer cannot sell the car, it would be put up for auction. Nightmare.
Spend the $2.50 and modify your vehicle folks.
Hopefully future RX's will have some protection added.

+1, can't believe how much the laws differ from state to state

I only mentioned because the laws are probably comparable. And it could possibly be just a matter of time before this happens again. I hope not

I appreciate your thoughts Anita.
Waiting this long to get our car back, we have explored several options.
Thank you again.

MAJOR PROGRESS!
End of thread is near club members - brand new engine from Japan has arrived to Lexus of Cherry Hill N.J. yesterday, 10/26.
attached photos:
1. Old engine out
2. Empty engine bay - I feel from this angle the oversized air dams are in clear view, and definately in need of a modification.
3. New engine being preped for install.
Will post again when we are back on the road!

Awesome! Maybe the dealer can put in some type of screen over that air dam while you're there to ensure a safe ride home.

Just as a note, a lot of cars share this same design, and a vast majority of them do not have a screen protecting the radiator. I personally think this is just a freak accident. It would be quite exagerrated, and extremist, to call it a major design flaw.

In any case, regardless of if you have a screen or not, you would know it and definitely FEEL IT if something large enough to cause damage to the radiator hit your car.

Did you happen to see the size of the dent in the bottom of the radiator?
See post #9.
We felt or heard nothing.

Why is carfax involved? I thought carfax only for a declaration of "totalled"?
Sorry, a little bit of a newb when it comes to that...

Carfax is a history report of the life of the car.
