Default Front License Mount 2010 RX350

I don't know what they were thinking but my 2010 RX350 was delivered with a front license plate mount that is 13.25 inches X 4.5 inches. (Stored in the back behind the seats- not mounted). The pre-drilled painted holes are not standard for a 12 inch wide tag. It is black and my car is Tungsten Pearl. Am I missing something? Everything I read is never drill holes in the bumper except the pre-drilled holes as it might set off the air bags. The pre-drilled holes are too far apart to use a standard plate mount. I can't find anything in the owners manual. Bottom line, to mount it like they have would look terrible. Any ideas?

I would suggest holding your dealer accountable. Legally, a car must have front and rear license plates, and it is the DEALER'S responsibility to install them. I remember several years ago I didn't like the look and asked the dealer not to install the front ones. They said legally they had to, but I could always take it off later. For them to just throw it in your back seat is unacceptable.

Quick correction - not ALL states require a front license plate.

That being said, this should be a HUGE warning to anyone in a state that does have the requirement (or anyone taking delivery in ANY state just in case the dealer installs these as standard) to make sure that the install is done correctly.

We have no holes drilled but the frame for a front license plate is sitting in our rear compartment next to the spare tire (just like our last 2 Rx's- which never left there).

The bracket that came with the RX fits the predrilled areas of the bumper. The one thing I hate is that the overall bracket is too wide. I have a TX lic plate that there is about 1.5" of bracket showing on either side of the lic plate. Surely all state lic plates are the same size. Way to go Lexus! Is this Lexus or GM???

I guess one size fits all...and all countries.

Default Front bumper plugs for predrilled License plate holes!

Go to "Bumperplugs.com" and order plugs. I did and works great. I had to drill out the dealer holes to make slightly larger, but it was a 60 second job per hole. The plugs come with instructions, but drilling out the holes and inserting the plugs took 5 minutes.
