Default Super Low Gas Mileage on RX10?

I have a RX 350 (2010).

I just filled up for the 3rd time (premium). I have been getting
14.2 mpg. I got only 578 miles out of two full tanks of gas. I should be getting an average
of 20mph looking at the literature.

I haven't been driving wierd or fast, in fact I dont have my radar detector in yet and since my new one is red I have been driving more conservatively.

Any idea what is going on?

For starters, driving around DFW during normal work hours can indeed get you that type of mileage, as some NYC posters have noted in other threads. If you're just putting around DelRio though, then that's odd. First suggestion, check tire pressure. That alone won't make up 6 mpg, but it helps. To me, the recommended pressure is too low. We go 36-38 psi. Also, do you have AWD?
Do you notice that power is OK? Although a long shot, maybe something got sucked into the airfilter (like a plastic baggie or something)...you can easily check the air filter. My 0.02 pesos. Other more knowledgeable members hopefully will chime in...

That gas mileage does not seem right. There has to be something wrong. I would make an appointement with the dealer to have it checked.

it could be right if you dont no any highway mileage at all. If you stay in the city, with stop and go lights, with little coasting, then that seems perfectly normal to me. I get that kind of mileage a lot. Try going on the highway and (if you have nav) look at the trip information to see the current consumption. Being steady at 65 should give about 24-25 mpg.

But know that after break in (1000 miles), the car will be more fuel efficient.

WTF indeed. That ain't right. Wonder if you could trade cars with your friend, and using the same route and daily driving routine, see what each gets with the other's vehicle. That's the best way to know for sure. My idea of highway driving is 75 mph nonstop for 30 minutes or more. I don't know what Jersey turnpikes etc are like, but if it's like Southern California "freeways", then 12-13 mpg may be it. THat's city driving any way you look at it.

12-13 mpg is not right. Unless you constantly floor the pedal from the stop and I can't see you driving in NJ only on local roads, maybe your trip computer needs calibration. What does the total average mpg and speed say? How much total mileage you get between pumps? What type and grade gasoline do you use?

I drive RX with a heavy foot, and I get 17 mpg combined, with 50% - city traffic from Brooklyn to NYC to NJ through Holland, and 40% - from NJ to Staten Island to Brooklyn. I never go on an empty tank, so my calculation is based on driving 7 days between pumps, and total of 300 miles (+/- 10-15). That, I figure, is on about 17 gallons. Tank capacity of 2010 RX 350 is 19.2 gallons.

Total average speed 20 mph. Total average mpg - 17.4 mpg.

If you have the NAV equipped model, there is a screen that shows your fuel consumption for the last 30 minutes. So you can try driving on a with stop and go traffic and also on the highway to see your actual consumption.

I get 17-18 mpg on average, but I have a tendency to have a heavy foot during acceleration, about 40% city 60% highway.

Might also try turning on the ECO light and/or the ECO Bar?
