0W20 Toyota Motor Oil
#6
Since O-20W is synthetic oil and 5,000 miles oil changes are probably overkill for synthetic, is anyone considering going to 10,000 mile oil changes. I've seen there was an unconfirmed rumor that Toyota was thinking of extending the service level to 10,000 mile levels for synthetic oil changes. But I'm sure they are getting push back from the dealers. I know there would be a risk of not following the scheduled maintenance, but it is pretty safe risk.

A friend of mine who is a mechanic at a Lexus dealership tells me he has worked for Mercedes, BMW, and Audi dealerships, plus a domestic dealerships, but what is unique to Lexus buyers is the distance they push their cars between services. Some of his stories are unbelievable.
It always amazes me how people are willing to pay significant amounts of money for a car yet are too cheap to maintain them. Simply amazing.

You can buy 0W20 from Mobil and Amsol. Both are good suppliers. Synthetic oil should last longer than 5,000 miles. The only way to find out is to use it for 10,000 or even longer and take a sample to a lab for analysis.

Instead of 0w20, can I use 0w30? Where I live 0w20 is move expensive. Also if I change oil at 7000 or 10000 miles interval, will this void the warranty. Lexus manual states that oil change should be done at 5000 miles interval.
