RX350 Transmission Oil Change (merged threads)

The average drain and fill amount is 1 quart 16 ounces to about 2 quarts or a little over. I think those that drain at the lesser amount actually have their transmission under-filled. I think about 2 quarts is closer to the proper level if you are doing a cold drain and fill. I did a few on a 2013 Sienna which as the same 6 speed transmission. It drained 1.5 quarts. I experimented with filling it with more fluid on each drain and fill. It shifted far better and had better initial throttle tip-in response from a stop when I added 2 quarts. I later checked the fluid using the temperature method and it was correct with very little overflow.

That sounds correct for your car. The total fill amount does appear to vary among those who post. It may be how level the car is, or manufacturing tolerances, such as the original fill amount, or how each person measures the amount drained and replaced.
It does take time to warm up the transmission when just idling and not driving around.
If you had overflow at 104 and are comfortable with your work, then assume all is good and take it for a test drive.

It's not clear - does the RX 3 gen has a transmission filter? I can't see it on diagrams.

The drawing you linked is for the transmission case. The filter is not shown in that drawing. It is shown in the drawing for the valve body and oil strainer which is another name for the filter.
It is called either the filter or the strainer assembly for the valve body by Lexus. You need to enter your VIN to be sure you get the correct filter. This is the correct page from the link you provided https://www.japan-parts.eu/lexus/eu/...l-strainer-atm
The fillter is inside the pan. This link is for changing it on an ES350 but it is almost exactly the same for the RX. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es-...placement.html

just had my fluids drained and refilled, but the mec just did a measure of fluid out (1,9L) and added 2 bottles (2L). ES350 2013 has a total of 6.5 L i believe.
how precise should the fluid in and out be? would 0.1 L difference be a cause for concern?

I don't think .1L is going to make a difference. The previous owner of our RX did his own drain/fill and when I did one 10K later I got 3.7 qt out of the trans. From what I've been reading most people get 1.6 to 2 qt out. I put 3qt back in and will soon do another drain/fill to see what I get out. Trans has been running great, no issues.

Has anyone located the fill and drain plugs on the F Sport? I will get down there and find it myself if i have to but would love the assistance ahead of time if someone has the answer. Thank you in advance for the assistance.
Ok, tried to do the transmission oil change as planned but not sure about where the oil pan and drain plug are located. Underneath of my 2015 f sport doesn't look like any of the videos on youtube of other RXs and highlanders! After removing the black protective plastic shield, it seems the black pan with drain plug that all videos show at the bottom, is situated vertically in my car?? At the bottom, next to the frame where the pan/drain plug should be, there is shiny transmission body and some funny looking bolts. Does anyone have a 2015 f sport that looks like mine and has changed transmission oil? Can you please post some pics and hints?
