I also found this out. This is a very known 'feature'. It's been talked about in numerous threads. You can buy a 3rd party device from Prestigous, a thread also exists for that to defeat it. However you can use the speed contact list when in motion.

You can also not change your destination while in motion. You can not change setting while in motion. You can not ... grrrrrrrrr....

Now that you have your contacts uploaded, just load the most frequent dialed ones into the "speed dial" area. You can then use them while moving.
