Default Non-Lexus rim installation

i think he was implying that if i get non-lexus rims that i'd be at risk of "shattering at high speed etc." - this is literally what he wrote me in an email..
he then made an analogy with buying a makeshift baby seat instead of a real one.

the tire shop has guaranteed me that if the non-lexus rim doesn't fit properly he won't install it.

i'm new to all of this - but i don't want to cut corners re: safety, but i also don't want to get ripped off!
thanks for your help - much appreciated.

Well, I can honestly say I have never seen non-lexus rims shatter, break, or otherwise deform due to high speed. What are we talking about here, 180kmh is the limited speed on the RX350? Even at that, depending on tire rating, the tires would fail first due to heat. Of course, the dealer's statement is simply intended to scare you into spending your money there.

jamesonbro, on some part of the car, oem parts are better and safer, but rims are not one of them. After market rims can be as good or even better quality than Lexus rims. It will definitely be cheaper, don’t let your dealer scare you put of your hard earn money, ask him for proof that after market rims are unsafe.

Default Can I Disable the Tire Pressure Idiot Light (RX350)??

I noticed that there is a thread showing how easy this is on an SC 430.
Has anybody done a similar disable on a Gen 3 RX 350?
I'm hoping there are 2 easy to unplug plugs in a similarly accessible location, however, the console configuration is quite different from the SC430 and I don't want to start pulling off random panels.
Thanks.
