another example of ignorant salesmen. The RX does not have harddrive space for you to rip music on to.

Find another dealer that knows what they are talking about. The hard drive only for map info.

I wondered the same thing but then I thought if I can store music in the harddrive then why do I need the 6-disc changers for?

Mine does have a hard drive; when you insert a CD you get an option to record it to the hard drive. I think there's a limit of 2000 songs at high quality; not sure if it exist at low quality.

I was checking JDM Lexus website and couldn't find any related info. It could be the "option". Did you get this outsides US/Canada? It's built in Japan, right?

Thanks.

I think its a Mark Levinson thing. I do have ML but haven't played with that yet to see.
Also The DVD thing is a Mark Levinson upgrade only. Check his Sig.

"This state-of-the-art system also features Hard Disc Drive (HDD) technology which can function as a sound library."

Heres the link.

Super. You found it.

Due to this, I also found the info on JDM Lexus site. It does say that hard drive can carry approximately 2000 5-min-long songs. However, JDM RX owner "might" be able to select this option and don't have to buy 15-speaker ML system.

Code:

録音モード128Kbps(1曲5分換算)。

even if you get the ML system in the US, you will not get the HDD for music storing. The music function is not available in the US even as an option but is available in other countries

I didn't realize that music storing waws availble in other countries. Ticks me off since my son-in-law always flaunts the recording ability on his Bose in his G37. I have the ML, and like stated above, I get DVD playing/viewing (when stopped), but no ability to store music while it plays. Using a thumb drive means recording the music from another device, not from the system in the car.
