Default Wind Noise & Dampness

I've only had my new 2010 RX for a week now and I've noticed there's always a lot of wind noise. So far I've only done local driving under 30 mph and this is when I hear it. I've read about the roof rails causing wind noise, but is it possible at such a low speed? I keep looking around to see if the trunk or the moonroof are open.

Also, I left a bag of clothes in a plastic bag overnight in the car. The next day when I took the clothes out of the bag, they were soaking wet. Not just damp or cold, but heavy and wet like they just came out of a washing machine. It's really strange because there was no water inside the car or on the outside of the bag, but everything inside the bag was wet. What could be causing this?

Your plastic bag closed-up with stuff inside can get damp especially when the temperature fluctuates. With your area having ton of melting snow combine with warm temperature with high humidity probably is the main cause.

With wind noise around the door; make sure you use the “auto-up” to make sure it is closed completely. Even a small gap can cause wind noise at any speed. Rail noise sounds like “whoo-whoo” which seems to be more pronounce in lower speed than at highway speed.

That was me, take a picture of the window etching before and after the install. Just wondering if the etchings are different between the two glasses.

My VIN seems to fall after the production change (according to the TSB), but I definitely have noise at freeway speeds. Is there anyway to check the etchings on the window to see if I have the old part or the new acoustic glass?

Look at the top edge of the glass. Roll the window down half way and look at the leading edge. You should be able to see 2 pieces of glass laminated together. There should be a seam in the middle or, in my case, an actual difference in the sizes of the 2 pieces.
Hopefully this helps.

Can you clarify? If there are two pieces stuck together, is this the acoustic glass? Does this mean a single piece is not acoustic glass?

That is correct. The laminated pieces make it acoustic. They laminate a sheet of some type of plastic in between the two pieces and that is supposed to cut down the noise. If it is a single piece of glass, it is not acustic.
I do not have wind noise in my RX and I do have the acustic glass.

Well, in that case, I DO have the acoustic glass. I can clearly see a thinner layer sandwiched in between two thicker pieces of glass. It's disappointing that I still hear freeway noise at higher speeds.

I do hear freeway noise but it is from the rear and I think it is the tires making the noise. I noticed you have the 19's and I think they are a little noisier. Also, what brand of tire do you have?
Michelin's seem to be the quietest.

I have Michelins. I do have other rattles in the vehicle, but this thread was specifically about the wind noise.

Sorry I stayed.

The only other possible things could be the door is not closing/ aligned properly or the roof rack/ rails. I completely removed my roof rack, rails and all.

Good Luck.
