Default 2010 RX350 Starting Problems

I recently purchased a 2010 RX350 and am generally very pleased with the car. However, I have had problems in starting the vehicle. Some times I get in the car to start it, depress the brake and push the start button. Yesterday, I did this, noticing the green light on the button and pressed the button. No response, only the radio came on.

It has done this three times now and just when I am about to give up and call Lexus service, it starts.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have not had this problem but I have a suggestion. Have you tried depressing the brake pedal further? I believe there is a sensor on it and maybe it needs adjusting/ or replaced.

Let us know what happens.

Usually the radio just comes on when I don't press the brake pedal.

If your cell phone is next to your key, you may experience some interference. That's what I notice.

try holding the button down for a second or two longer. I think if you just tap the button it will turn on only the radio, similar to turning the key in an ignition only one click to turn on the electrics but not turn over the engine.

yes, make sure your cell phone isn't in the same pockets as the key, I have found this to be a problem.

That DOES cause interference.
It does not always happen, and its more prone to smart phones.
I have tested this with my razr and iphone and in both my infiniti and lexus and
if they are in the same pocket it does in fact cause interference and I researched this to make sure and it is in fact true.

it definetely feels when phone is in the same pocket, however, in Europe, if client has a complain that remote doesn't work properly, even battery is ok, they change the inside of all keys, that has a little different Hz frequence and that does change a lot. It is bacause, in Europe, some of automatic doors, and other equipment, uses same frequence, and that causes keyless system not work properly...

Sometimes if the steering wheel is against the lock, you have to move the steering wheel slightly to have the engine start.

As mentioned previously, the brake must be fully engaged during the entire process of pressing and holding the start button. If you release the brake too early or don't hold the button long enough then you will enter 'accessory' mode which turns on the electronics but not the engine.

This is likely what is happening if it is not the cell phone interference issue (never noticed this at all).

Try holding the brake pedal down firmly and for a longer period of time and see if that helps.

Good luck!

You should not have to hold the button in. If working properly, you should only have the depress the brake pedal and punch the start key momentarily, but not hold it down.
