Default Recalls

With all the hoopla about Toyota's various recalls including two Lexus models, I'm curious. I recently received a recall notice on a '97 Mercury Mountaineer (which I no longer have) regarding a problem with "speed control". Sounds like that could be serious, and yet I haven't seen mention about it in the news or anywhere else. Anyone else have a similar experience?

It's probably related to a long time problem Ford has had with the cruise control dating back to the '90s(?) Nothing new. Recalls on it have occured through the years and they still haven't gotten it right.

I'm so glad Ford had to take back my '97 Explorer lemon.

Thanks for the response, but my curiosity stems not from this particular problem with my old vehicle, but rather the fact that this is a current recall dealing with what could be a dangerous situation and in contrast to Toyota recalls, nothing is mentioned in the media. I was wondering if anyone else had received any other recall notices that have not received the wide publicithy of anything that seems to happen with Toyota. No, I'm not trying to add fuel to that fire, I'm just curious. the last one with wide publicity that I was personally affected by was the bridgestone tire problems on Ford vehicles in the late '90s

Well it was 4/20 yesterday, so you're probably not the only one.
