So - when you finally find out, after an exhaustive search of calling one (1) more dealer -that Lexus wants "11-12 cents" per additional miles up front -and that's "not a good value with Lexus."
Uh...ok.
Looks like Acura or Infiniti has a sure deal for your garage's next vehicle; let us know if you go with the MDX or one of the Infinitis.

By the way, I own a '08 MDX Sport/Ent and it is a great car except gas mileage is 18-19 mpg (mostly highway).

Value, guess I did misunderstand your post. Let me see if I get it now -
a. Your original post states that you want to add 5000 miles to a 3 year, 45k mile lease.
And that your first dealership was lying through their teeth when they quoted the additional 5k miles as a prepay would cost you 25 cents each then came down to 20 cents each - right?
b. Now, from a second dealer, you've found The Truth - and the cost is only 12 cents/mile prepay for the additional miles in a 3-year, 54k mile lease (about $1080 more over the 3-year term - 9000 miles x 12 cents each). Right?
Now here's my question: If you don't use all of those 54,000 miles in 3 years and, instead, only use the 50,000 miles that you originally wanted to put into the lease agreement per your first post - wouldn't your cost for the additional 5000 miles be 21.6 cents each ($1080 / 5000 = 21.6 cents)?
Of course, near the end of the 3 years you could plan on taking a couple of cost-effective, cross-country trips to use up the remaining miles to bring your cost back down to 12 cents each.
And if you don't use 'em...you lose 'em. No rebate. But I'm probably missing the point yet again.

Well, I would prefer to purchase the extra miles up front the way Acura and Infiniti offer it; but, at least Lexus offers an "option" other than 20 cents a mile.
Also, I like the whole picture as offered by Lexus Financial so I can make an informed decision. For me, the longer lease is a better deal because of "flexibility" in the mileage. For others, the payment of 20 or 25 cents per mile may be the better choice.

I think Lexus has found yet another way to scr** us Canadians. Their Canadian base lease is for 24,000 km per year, which is about 14,400 miles per year. Nothing less for those of us who only drive 10,000 miles per year. I am convinced that there is some Lexus employee whose primary duty is to figure out ways to give us less in Canada than is available to our US cousins. For example, look at the way that in Canada we only have available a limited number of option packages and I was forced to take a pricey back-of- front-seat DVD player to get other things I wanted on the 450h even though it is highly unlikely that anyone will ever ride in the rear seats while I have the vehicle.

I have done this 5 times taking a 15000 mile lease instead of a 12000. If I don't use all the miles, and say I have 9000 miles less on the car at turn in time there is a good chance the market value of the car is higher than the residual.
