Default Thumping wind noise over 60mph

I just bought a 2010 RX 450h and when I open just the rear windows going above 60mph i get this deafening thumping wind noise that almost made me deaf. Does anybody else have this problem? any solutions? thanks.

You can crack another window to offset the pressure difference.

Just curious. Isn't this normal? I thought many of cars are not designed for this type of opened-window behavior and will have the similar effects in varied speed.

If you think that noise is bad, you should try doing the same in a LS460/600 if you have the chance - very low frequency sound waves that assails your ear drum, almost to the pain threshold level. Cars nowadays spend a lot of design time in wind tunnels, and engineers will craft the airflow around and over the car in the most efficient path to cheat the wind and thereby increase your MPG - and this is all done with the windows up, as opening them in any car for that matter really drives your gas consumption up. Any break in this flow at any speed then causes wind chatter, and this produces sometimes unbearable sound waves. Lexus have great AC and air filtration systems, so I seldom drive with my windows down or cracked. Doing so also increases the amount of road dust that enters the car, polluting its environment and requiring more frequent interior upkeep.

Oh yes, if you open just one window, then beating drums. This is worse in the 10Rx compared to 05RX, but all you have to do is open a forward window for some airflow streaming. Don't have that problem in my truck, but then again it's a GM and not nearly as well sealed. We use this new feature to quiet the kids in the back when they get too noisy.

I like how you use the windows.
