Default pics of rx 350/450 keys...

i know that with the 3RX there is the SmartAccess system. Does that mean there is no more key to carry around and is just the remote? I have seen only one pic of the remote, can someone post more pics? From first reaction, the remote looks like a generic remote from aftermarket alarm systems

the mechanical key is "inserted" into the fob and you can eject it to open up doors if the fob dies

ZZ - My uderstanding is that Lexus designed the thin metal key as a mini-sword to come out quickly so it could be used to fend off carjackers.

you hardly even have to touch the key, what's so unsafe about it. there are clip to hold it in and it's actually not the easiest thing to take out the key.

plug it has to be able to completely separate from the fob... the fob is what you give to valet when you use the mechanical key to lock the glove box / trunk

yes, lexus logo on the other side. google has tons of pics

btw, same thing for new bmw fobs

If im honest, the Lexus key fob isnt that great looking...but it does its job.

the credit card smart key is what I would buy if I get confirmation that it works with the RX

Here ya go...

http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accesso...X350-2010.html

I like that wallet smart card fob too.
I like Sewell and have many purchases from them but I'm going to call the Lexus at Richmond Hill in Toronto where I bought the Lexus mudguards for $125 delivered.Sewell wants $223 delivered for the same mudguards.
Maybe they're cheaper on that part.

Price update:
Go with Sewell. The Canadian dealer wants $463(CAD)+ shipping.
I don't know why the Lexus part mudguards were so much cheaper and they are the same mudguards sold in the states.

The fob is great. Mine is in a nice leather case. I rarely take it out of my pocketbook since the doors don't have to be opened/locked with a remote. And no more worries about replacing the key when the case breaks.

On a related note, battery change is included with service

Mine also in a leather case which I consider redundant and it makes it slightly more bulky but I don't mind since, like Anita, I rarely have to take it out (but it's in my pocket, not pocketbook since I'm a male for those of you following the "girlie car" thread)
However, I must admit I never thought about whether the key fob was nice looking or not.

I have the credit card smart card, its included in the Canadian cars. I dont use it because it doesnt have a button for the rear. Personally I wouldnt buy it as an addition.
