Sevn, a few of us have gone with the HID kit from XenonDepot, a CL vendor here. Steve is extremely helpful.

SEVN, follow Anita's advice and go with the XENONDEPOT kit. I was concerned about thin installation but it only took me around 30 to 45 minutes to complete both side. Give Steve a call. They are great to work with.

I noticed my stock HID's are kinda dim compared to my aftermarket 6000k hid kit that I had bought from a flea market for one of my other cars. Does anyone know why that is and what can I do to make them brighter?

Thanks!

A lot of the aftermarket lights are not street legal.
Also, projector lights produce a sharper, more focused beam than the parabolic fog that we have. Depending on which angle you look at, the parabolic hid convertion will always be brighter.

When replacing the stock HID bulbs in the headlights do i just change out the bulbs or do i have to change the ballast too? I have AFS headlights so will changing out the stock bulbs to 6000K cause any issues with the AFS feature? Where should i get my replacement bulbs from?

I believe you should be able to use the original ballasts unless you want to use bulb types other than D4S. I've switched out my stock HID bulbs to Garax D4S 6000k bulbs without having to use a new ballast and it has been working perfectly fine.

You just need to get new D4S HID bulbs. You do not need to replace your ballasts. Be very careful when shopping for aftermarket D4S bulbs as the market is flooded with low quality D4 bulbs that end up flickering and burning out prematurely.

sorry to dig up old thread. I am thinking to chage my 10 rx350 fog light to hid recently, and I saw this diy thread. But all the pictures are gone, has anyone by any chance still have these diy pictures? any help is appreciated.

Welcome to CL, foreverjoj. You can PM JDKane to see if he can repost the pictures. But I'm not sure how active he is anymore.

From what I recall, installation of HIDs is pretty straightforward. It's finding a place to mount the ballast that takes time. A few members were able to get to their fog lights by reaching in from up top in front of the engine. Others went through the bottom. Both will require removing covers.
