Default What does "Category: H" mean in the Vehicle Inquiry Report?

Hi all,

I am looking at purchasing a pre-owned 2010 RX350 with 2400 miles.

The dealer sent me a copy of the Vehicle Inquiry Report on which it states the Category is H.

Does anyone know what Category H means?

Any help is appreciated!

If the report said 2010 RX 350 h wouldn't mean hybrid. That would be for a 2010 RX 450h. Or at least should be. Certainly the dealer would know.

Don't know if the terminology is the same in the US, but in Canada anyway, "H" would mean "Hit Over" = Vehicle that has sustained damages of $2000 or more (Hit over $2K - professional insurance industry jargon).

There is an extensive glossary of terms used in the insurance field, so if you want the list, just say the word!

I find it amazing that today's electronic odometers, whose data trails are locked and secured in the ECU's black box, could actually be tampered with, notwithstanding the threat of severe penalties from the Feds...

BlueSurf, you do realize that the CarFax report you mention was an erroneous one, as reported further down the page. There are 158 posts in that thread...

I know an easier and more cost effective way. Jack the car up, and drive in reverse for a long, long time.

here's another device. http://www.spidometer-tec.de/eng/diga_main.php
There are about 9 different units out there.

Almost every Body Shop/Auto wrecker has one hidden in the bottom of his file cabinet. dealers in the northeast and Chicago have been using these for years. You can even find software on line that you load into your laptop that will do the same for less.
It pays to buy certified used with an "real" extended warranty. Then you have the peace of mind.

are you familiar with Ferris Bueler?

Also, on my 1gen RX300, my fuel gauge was acting up at around 14K miles. They changed a new instrument panel under warranty and it was back at 0 on the odo
