Check your window sticker for the tow pkg and if you have the option,it will list the equipment.

I had a conversation with Lexus International, and then my salesman, who both agreed the 450h tow package does not include a larger alternator and one of the two additional items (either the radiator or the tranny cooler, I believe it was the tranny cooler).

My window sticker DOES say the vehicle includes all three items.

Ultimately, I think the question would be best answered by a Lexus mechanic, who's actually worked on those parts (unless one of us finds some stronger evidence).

Regardless, I appreciate everyone's insight into this. Let us all know if you have further info!

Wow!
I can't see how Lexus can have those items on the window sticker and not include them.
That doesn't seem right.

Only one way to tell. Pop the forward part of the driver's side wheel well cover. What I saw looked like a radiator with a few heavy duty lines coming out of it.

True; I asked the Lexus rep on the phone why the 450h didn't include the other items. He said an alternator wasn't needed, as the 450h doesn't really have an alternator, which sorta makes sense, as the energy comes from the electric motor.

I'm definately going to pick my mechanic's brain next visit to the dealership.

Oh; question for you all. Does the hybrid engine have any "real" connection to the front tires? Meaning, does the engine turn a shaft, which turns the tranny, which then has a drive shaft to the wheels? Somewhere I read it doesn't. Everything the engine does is via shaft to the tranny which turns the motor, and electricty then drives the wheels, right? God, I'd love to see this thing stripped down and explained to me.

Great web site that explains some of the tranny basics:
