Default Changes for 2011

I just found this on cars.com. Some good some bad. Nothing radical.

What's New for 2011
A brake override system that reduces engine power if the brake and accelerator pedals are pressed at the same time is a new standard feature. Other than new colors, the only other changes are that a 12-volt outlet has been moved from inside the center console to outside for easier access, and models with the optional navigation system no longer have a compass in the inside mirror. (The nav system comes with a compass.)

I wonder if Canadian models will finally get Lexus Enform? Seems strange that many US vehicles are built here in Cambridge yet we don't get "Enform"!!

I actually think it is comical that they removed the mirror compass if the car has Nav. Admittedly redundant (if you always have your Nav on), but petty.

Not having Enform available in Canada is more of an issue. I see no reason why it should be limited to US - is it available in Europe?

My Camry didn't have a dimming rearview mirror so I ordered a Gentex dimming mirror which is made by Mito, the company who auto manufacturers use.
Anyway,I ordered and installed the plain dimming mirror without the compass and the cost was $79.95.The same Gentex dimming mirror with the compass was $179.95.
Just Lexus doing some cost cutting.

it's been posted that vast majority of accidents involved is driver error (they pressed on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal). personally, i don't like the the idea of a brake override system. you can't brake torque at the light for faster acceleration (not that i would do that in my RX, but i want to be able to do that if i so chose). if anything, the brake override should be a safety option, not mandatory.

the brake override does not engage at a full stop, for your reasons and for people (like me) who use both pedals when stopped at a hill, before hill start assist came about)

german cars have had this technology in their cars for years.

Also the brake override only applies when the gas pedal is depressed first then the brake, at which time the brake will be given priority.
