Had extended Lexus warranties on our RX300 and RX330 and will get one on our RX450h when its original 4/50 warranty expires. While I broke even on the RX300, multiple repairs that were covered on the '04 RX330 (power rear hatch twice, worn suspension parts, replacement Nav head, etc) proved the wisdom of getting that extension several times over.
With all the electronic bits in the 450h that nobody but the dealer will touch...not to mention the $7000 Inverter (?)...I wouldn't sleep well for the couple of years we'll have that vehicle past the 4/50 term. And I know that the battery pack is covered for a long period under the original warranty.

I appreciate everyone's replies...I think in our case the RX 350 will probably be driven 25K per year; thus we will be out of warranty after year 2...even one solid repair can set you back $1500, so I will probably opt to go ahead with the warranty...right before the original Lexus warranty expires!

$1,500 repairs that would be covered are rare.
If you can afford the warranty, then you can afford not to buy the warranty and instead hold the $1500 until you need it for repairs, which you may not (and probably will not, according to the actuaries who price these policies) have to do. Even then, assuming repair cost = warranty cost, you are only breaking even; only when you have enough covered repairs that add up to the warranty cost do you get any return on your purchase. That can happen, of course, but the odds are against you.

Has anyone purchased a 7yr./100k Platinum plan for a Lexus RX450H? I'm looking for a discounted price. If anyone out there made a discounted purchase I would appreciate knowing so I have a real benchmark. Thanks for your time.
