Yeah, some people just don't make sense Whatever you do, never take up two spots. That screams damage my car. l only park in certain spots far away. I visit stores early before the crowds descend. And I definitely pass if the parking lot is busy. It works for me.

Default Parking Lot Strategies

Sorry for hijacking this message thread, but since we got sidetracked onto parking lot strategies, here are a couple of things I consider:
  1. Park far away from the entrance doors of the store or mall, where the majority of people try to park as close to as they can
  2. Park at the end of a row of parking stalls, so that at least, I'll only have ONE neighboring car to worry about.
  3. Avoid parking next to two-door cars, which have wider doors
  4. Given the choice between parking next to a driver-side door, or a passenger-side door, take the passenger-side door; the car may not have a passenger at all, which means that door won't be opened.

One more suggestion. Try to find those extra wide spaces at the end, preferably next to an island. Again only vulnerable on one side but that'll avoid those people who create their own space past the end. I wish they'd figure out the average parking spot size is not designed for SUVs

Back on topic, Kathie, I hope your mileage continues to improve. I noticed a difference around 5K myself. Since I do mostly short trips, a little highway driving helped tremendously. It's fun trying to keep the eco light on while watching the MPG climb

Sometimes now matter where you park doesn't help. Clear at the end of a row parked next to a new BMW, half a block from the store entrance. The person in the BMW walks up and starts pushing a shopping cart between our cars! Luckily I was sitting in our Obsidian RX and moved it to allow her to go between the cars when she could have gone around our cars at the end of the row. Yikees!

Enjoy your new car.

Default "Follow-Up" Only from Me - Not Them

I called the dealership today to ask a question and was connected to my salesperson. I have never run into such a wishy-washy person in my life. He sounded very unexcited to talk to me: "hi" - not how's the car, how are you, anything of the sort. Flat monotone.

At the end of the conversation, I said "I'm really enjoying my car" - he said something to the fact of "that's nice". I said "I really expected to hear from someone to see how everything is." He said (paraphrased) "well as long as everything is good that's important. Maybe I should have follow-up with a phone call or something." End of our conversation. He sounded bored as hell.

Don't get me wrong - I'm thrilled with the deal I got, as well as my wonderful RX, but his lack of caring is very surprising. You would think that I would be a valued customer. After all they did very well on my trade-in. And they did get my business.

Kathie, your sales person sounds like he doesn't like his job. With that attitude he won't be around much longer. I wouldn't take it personally. I'd call when he's off so you have to speak to another sales person, maybe even his boss Fortunately you don't have to deal with him anymore.

Thanks, Anita - I needed to hear that. I was calling today and not even expecting to talk to him - more like a car-care related question and the front-desk put me on with him...for the last time, for sure. He's out of there, as far as my needs go.

And I think you're right - he really doesn't like where he is. Sad he makes it so obvious.

Kathie, I'm sure you'll find that the service advisors are going to treat you well. I'd call them with any questions that you might have, they are usually excellent and know how to treat customers well.

Thanks for the great advice. Yes, next time, I'll just ask directly for a service advisor - I always learn lessons the hard way.

Default salesman

Kathy---Our salesman actually has asked us to call him to set up service or if we want a car wash. I wonder if your salesman was in a meeting or if there is something going on in his life.
