Oil Question 0W20
So yes I have had my New RX 350 for 1 day and I am already worrying about its first oil change. I get 3 free services and since I only have 50miles on the OD it will be a while. The question I have is my sales guy said the oil change interval is 10k miles on the fully synthetic 0W20 oil. I find that to be a bit crazy so I looked at the service manual and it says every 5k miles. Who is right?
Thanks
Bobby
PS do we have an oil change thread yet for DIY?

If your car had the 0W20 sticker on an outside window then you are good to go for the 10k oil service if not then 5k for the first and 10k if you go to 0W20 from then on. Or you can have them change it when ever you want to pay for it. 3k 5k 7.5k or the 10k mile mark. But you would be OK for the 10k once a year thing for normal service.

It has 0W20 on the filler cap and I was told and it states in my manual it has 0W20 fully synthetic. I am pretty sure that is what it is running I think all 2010 RX 350s are running it if I am not mistaken. 10k seems a bit much!

hmm... this is interesting... my car has a service scheduled every 5K... even my audi has a service every 5K... but my brother's bmw X5 has a service every 12K... i wonder what's the differences... but for my car, i bring it when the light is on for oil change...

Toyota Ow20 is made by ExxonMobil and said to be specially formulated for Toyota engines with more added molybdenum (an anti-wear additive) content.
The oil can go the 10K but I'm going with 7500-8K oil and filter changes.I may go to an 0w30 synthetic.

Scheduled maintenance is every 5K, however, the only recommended change is rotating the tires. Lots of stuff to inspect, brakes, floor mats, etc. If offroading, or trailering, there are other various recommended inspections and re-torquing. Oil change is every 10k.

Well the Toyota 0W20 is supposed to be good and if it is made by Exxon Mobil that means it is basically Mobil 1 which I am a HUGE fan of. I run that in my S60R great oil.
