Default am i seeing things? does the RX in cali have more/different equipment than the east?

ive noticed when i price an RX using a california zipcode, the msrp of it reaches 53k. When i do it for the DC area, i can't break 50k.

so i was looking at the website and noticed there is different packages, but also what each package includes.

im confused. some of the differences i think i saw were: headlight washers, park assist, and they offered 3 packages (a,b,c) vs the ones sold in dc (a,b).

It is true that Lexus sends different shipments of different cars do different areas of the country. For instance, they may send more awd models to the east coast and therefore if you price an RX awd, you may have more options than the fwd model.

There shouldnt be anything different in terms of what each package includes but there will be a difference is what is available in each area

I noticed my dealer had two 'packages' last year, one moderately loaded with nav, premium and comfort for $8K and a few other options, the other included the same items and the entertainment system for $11K. Basically they pick and choose a few options to throw in with the more popular packages. If that's not to your liking, you can do what RXSF and I have done, special order to get exactly what you want.

well thats the thing. ive noticed the things like wide-view side mirror monitor system, park assist, etc aren't listed on the website when i put in a dc zipcode.

also i heard that lexus dealers in california dislike ordering cars with bi-xenons. anyone in cali want to chime in?
so i guess it is available, just need to special order?

I dont think its true that Cali dealers wont order cars with bi xenon. In fact, you will be hard pressed to find a car without bi xenons unless the car is really bare bones.

If you order, you just need to wait 3 months, but at least you get everything you want.

Another thing to point out with special order since you mention the headlights, bi-xenon comes with the comfort package but I opted for the LEDs. The cost of the bi-xenons was deducted from the price of the comfort package (around $400) and the LEDs were added ($1,825). And the LEDs include the headlamp washers and intelligent high beams.

Like RXSF said, the wait can be long for special orders. It took four months for me. But I couldn't be happier.

I tried to order a 450h with bi xenons, but was forced to put the LED’s in it. Did not know what forced the change the HUD or luxury package or rses or the ML. Dealer look around and found one like the one that I order in California but it had the LED also. That ok now that the good people on club Lexus have told me how they like or dislike the LED’s I know what I will get in 4 months when the car gets here.

its the luxury package that forces you to get LEDs.

scroll down to the options page.

The 450h AWD or FWD here only come with one package option and it is with the bi xenon lights.

It looks like they force you to get the LED headlights on the 2011. When I ordered my 2010 450 last year, they asked me to pick from HID or LED w/luxury package.

i dont understand why they would require you to get LED headlights, and not HID.

Personally if im dishing out that much cash id like to have HID, as its better for safety reasons.

but what confuses me even more is the fact the rx350 (not the hybrid) allows you to get all of that including the HID in the california market, yet this option isnt listed in the dc area. youd think it would.

in four months you can have it any way you want it unless like me they force one thing or another. But think of it this way that car was made for you and no one else.
