Default Help - car won't start

Just got into my car and it won't start. The message on the dash says "Steering Lock Active". How can I undo this?? I can't find my owner's manual and I'll look online now. In the meantime, maybe someone can help me quicker.

Thanks!

Have you tried turning the steering wheel slightly to relieve the pressure on the locking mechanism?

Found it in the manual. It says to press the start button while depressing the brake and to move the steering wheel left and right. Good luck.

Thanks everyone . . . the above suggestions worked!!!

That was a scary moment

I parked the car with the steering wheel in a crooked position so I guess that's how it got locked. Now I know to park the wheels straight from now on!

You "can" park with your wheels steered right or left; there should not be any load placed on them, like parking up against a curb, or locking them up hard right or left prior to shutting off the ignition.

you can park with the steering wheel turned just like Johnny said, but on your way out, you shouldnt use it as leverage or do anything that would turn the steering wheel when the car is off.
