I just noticed that the upper center console, the buttons for the garage door homelink, and sunroof controls do not illuminate at night when you turn on the lights. The rest of the dashboard lights up. Is there something wrong with my car or is it suppose to be like that?
My cheap 25k Honda Accord Coupe has these lights light up so it would be pretty crappy if a 40+k Lexus doesn't

No lights, it has been a complaint by most owners. No change for 2011.

I agree. But this Lexus has lots of stuff your Honda doesn't have... This comparison is never equally fair.

I also agree that RX should add light there.

We thought well at least hoped that Lexus would realize that they need to put lights up there for the 2011 model year but apparently they still haven't got the message.

Does anyone know if the overhead console button symbols are stamped on or are straight through? If the later then maybe a modification is possible here.

I've checked on my 2010 RX450h, they are stamped on the plastic.

yes, we did think they would add it on the '11 model. but we really shouldnt have gotten are hopes up seeing as how other Lexus models have the same problem.

There is a little pin light nearby. Purpose is really questionable though. We need jdkane to do a little modding for us

I'm surprised that there are so many items on the RX-350 that were changed from "terrific" to "this sucks". This is one of the "sucks" items. Right up there with the bizarre cupholder on the left dash, the funny spare, the loss of the sunglasses compartment, removal of the elapsed time display, putting DC outlets below the center console, etc.

There are a lot of things done right, and you will learn to live with the silly things.

I think you get accustomed to the position, feel, and don't look for the button. Of course when mine was new I found myself pressing the light button instead as the 400h buttons are slightly different.
