Automatic Dimming High Beams
#46
I called the guy who sold me the car -- and who also sold it to the original owner and then took it back in trade. He says I don't have them. Others have said that midway through the 2010 model year, Lexus dropped them, so I most likely have one of those models. There's probably a build date somewhere, or the VIN number is tied to one, but I don't know how to find it. Anyway, there's no sensor on the front side of the mirror, which I also understand is part of this system. I do have a separate gizmo with a sensor at the top of the windshield, but that's apparently to signal the automatic wipers when it's time for them to wake up. We're having a drought here, so I haven't had much chance to see them do their thing so far.

honestly, I never use my auto dimming feature. Never really find the need to use high beams anyways. In addition, having them flash on and off is a bit crude. I like how other car makers have slowly dimming and brightening functions built into the auto high beams. Also, with the stalk pushed back, its difficult to use your turn signals.

Since I bought this 2010 practically new, with only 14,992 miles on it, I won't be trading it in for a newer model soon, if ever.
