Unhappy 2010 RX Leather Seat Dye Stains :(

Good Morning,

I recently got rid of my Mercedes Benz GL550 (P.O.S.- absolute horror story- Mercedes Benz does NOT stand behind their product) and picked up a 2010 RX450H. Absolutely love the SUV, but a little concerned on the performance of the AWD system in the snow. I have read the hybrids are horrible, but I will have to see once the snow finally arrives here in Kentucky.

My question is- I haven't had the vehicle that long and I have started to notice the tan leather seats are starting to stain. I believe that it is the dye from the dress pants I wear to work everyday. Any suggestions on removing the stains? I love the softness and feel of the seats and don't want to ruin them.

You can try a leather cleaner or a 5-1 ratio of water and Woolite.

The leather cleaner Lexus sells in the dealership (Lexus branded) is great.

I believe its actually rebranded by Lexus. The original product is Zymol (which is high quality stuff) but less expensive

Congratulations on the 450h!

Zaino leather cleaner and Zaino leather-in-a-bottle (conditioner) work beautifully... I've been using them for over six years.

The Lexus branded cleaner works fine for blue jean stains, but I've got a reddish belt stain I'll need to move up the ladder to remove. I was thinking Leatherique as my next step.

For something a bit more aggressive than the Lexus cleaner try Lexol. It can be found in most auto parts stores and is inexpensive. Don't forget to condition the leather after cleaning.

Wow, thanks for all your input. I am going to take some before and after pics to let you know how it works. I called the dealership this morning and the 're-branded' leather cleaner they have is made by Mothers. I have used the Mothers brand chrome shine and it worked really well.

BTW, I outran a BMW - 335xi last night on the interstate. I am in a hybrid- take that BMW.

Leather conditioners don't do anything for leather like in the past.
Today's leather is coated with plastic/vinyl.Nothing will penetrate the coating to get into the leather.
That being said,I still use Zaino leather conditioner because I like it's leather scent.

you probably raced 328 x-drive instead of the 335 x-drive. in regards to snow traction, if you look at your RX tires, they are more of AS touring tires [quieter] verses GL's AT so your traction with RX will not be as "aggressive" as the GL was. GL also was lot heavier than your RX so it will have "different" feel.

My uncle and I once beat a ferrari in his Acura TL, but the ferrari was probably doing below 2-3k and the Acura was red-lining every gear. The funniest part was my little cousin in the back seat making faces at the guy driving the ferrari and yelling "we won"...lol he's only 5.
