I mention the Doc fee during price negotiations and was able to chip away at it at times.
I bought my RX at invoice in April and wasn't able to get the doc fee down.

hah, that will be good to know 3 years from now. 5 dealerships told me $289, i just figured that would have been something they weren't going to budge on. the one dealership where i pushed a little, the tone in the email response seemed a tad aggressive.

I edited my post and added that I got my RX for invoice in April and they wouldn't budge on the Doc fee cost.I was happy with my deal and didn't fight them.

It's something I found out about only recently. Most dealers have the charge preprinted on their BOS. But it's not mandatory to pay. Nice

They always add in doc fee in but you can get the vehicle discounted for doc cost if they go for it.Tougher getting the Doc fee off after you negotiated your best price.Especially if at invoice.

Default Msrp?

Can someone enlightem me on the MSRP?

I know what it means but recently I went to the Lexus site and built my own

It was a basic model RX350 with no options, plain jane type. The Msrp plus shipping was around $38000.
I got some quotes back from some Dallas dealers from $41000 to $44000,
the same basic model that had a MSRP of around$38000.
Question is: Can someone buy at the MSRP or lower and where.
Be nice if it was near Dallas, Texas .

Thanks,

Sam

MSRP is the same for everyone, and is obviously based on options. the prices you are getting will likely vary because different dealers have different options equipped on a similar model.

No options on the dealer quotes, just the basic model.

MSRP will be the same, they are likely quoting you the price they'd like to sell it to you for.

I agree tkman, that's the price they would like to sell it to me.

romini that's a good idea but they probably won't send it to me.

if they won't give you the info they are asking for, you should be working w/ another dealer.

if they can't even do the simplest thing (which should be totally public info btw), look elsewhere

Who knows what invoice means any more. I bought my 2010 RX, with a list (in Mass) of $44,747; and I paid $40,000 for it. I "think" that's under invoice, but, who knows. This was on Sept 1 of this year. They also were very generous on two trades, a 2007 RX which had a KBB of about $20k and a 1993 LS400 which had a KBB of about $2k; and they gave me $24k for both. Net, I gave them the two cars and $16k and they gave me the new car.

When they tried to get the $450 doc fee out of me, I said to the "business manager", "nope" my offer was $16k, not a penny more. And, he took it off.

They also financed the $16k at 3.4% over four years.

I was happy, I think I got a good deal. I LOVE the car, way better than the 2007, although gas mileage is a bit less.

Bob
