Default dealer had to make a swap to get my car

So long story short, I signed a contract four days ago to buy a black/black 2010 rx450h. At the time I knew they had to swap with a dealer 40 miles away because they didn't have the exact car. But the assumption was made that a swap is possible and he took one of the cars in the database for the other dealer and gave me the vin and signed all contracts with that vin.

So today the sales guy drives a vehicle to be swapped and he came back with a vehicle of a different vin. He says upon arrival the original vehicle is a showroom model and he got a different newer one from the back lot, same colors, same equipment list, same msrp

Now should I be worried? How can I tell if the vehicle sold to me is a showroom model when I pick it up tomorrow? what to check? I specifically stated that i am purchasing new, not demo. Can they legally sell me a showroom model as new?

the first thing I would do would be to check the label on the driver's side door jam to see the production month of the car. If in fact you got a "newer" one on the lot, then it shouldn't be anything earlier than July. Also, I would check the driver's seat for wear particularly on the side cushions from people getting in and out, scratches on the interior doors, etc.

GL, does this mean all the forms are void? if so, you technically are not obligated to buy the car since the VIN is different

Why July? I know the ship date on the original car is July 21 2010 and the second car has ship date of June 17 2010.

But he got a car with the same exact specs. I am gonna buy it, just wondering if its legal to pass off a floor model as new and what's his benefit in cheating me...if there is any...

The car is still new low miles not used as a demo and never been sold it is new. On the lot or in the show room it is new.

Showroom is new but I don't like buying showroom vehicles.

I don't think so.
Just give the RX a good walk around outside in the sun for swirls and scratches .Check interior for seat abrasions and stains along with door panels etc..
A showroom car gets walked around, people in an out, doors, hatch, hood opened and closed. Not a big deal but I'm OCD and that bothers me.
