Default my 2010 450h comes with bridgestone tires

Is this normal? I thought it was just either dunlops or michelins?

It's a luck of the draw. I'd rather have the Bridgestones than the Dunlaps.

That is one thing that I wish that Lexus would let you pick when you are special ordering a car from them. It was the same crap back in November of 2004 when we ordered or RX 330. Back then it was Michelins that I got 55k out of or crap Goodyear that people had to replace by 25k miles. If Toyota wants to go so green they how about putting tries on that will last 50k + miles and not so of the carp that they put on. I would have paid more to make sure that I had the tires that I wanted on the car and not the luck of the DRAW.

My 450 came with Bridgestone as well. Very sticky rubber. I don't think these will last over 25K miles. Once these are done, will get Michelins.

OEM Bridgestones did not get a good rating last time I checked. I was surprised after having the Alenzas on the 330. Great tires especially in the snow. At least Lexus dropped Goodyear and switched over to Dunlop instead. My only concern is Goodyear majority owns Dunlop. Not exactly the same tire but...

billy, I agree it would be nice if we were offered a choice at time of order. The Dunlops on my 450h are fine but I will probably change them out to Michelins when the time comes. By then, hopefully something better will come out.

That is the thing if we take so much time and effort in making sure we get the car that fits on needs and order one and just not take one off the lot Lexus should lets us pick the tires for the car. Yes I know that it screws we the way thy like to make than on the line but you are paying for it you might as well get everything you want on it. The 450h that just got into Jacksonville yesterday as more than 17K in options I think that I know what I want and do not want in that car. Michelins are my first second and third choice for tires the rest are just hope they will do ok in the 65+ of rain that we get here each year.

the dunlops according to tirerack are low rolling resistance, but the michelines are not.

Dunlops might be a fine tire but I have never had a set in 30 years but I have had Michelines and a set of Bridgestones on our RX330 right now. Hate to spend over 50k for a car with tires that I known nothing about and have never had on any car before. The dunlops could be better than the michelines but I do know how well they work in our little rain storms that we get here all year long. So far today we have had over 1.8 " of rain today. We have had over 56" of rain so far this year and by the end of the year should be over 65. The point is how well do the dunlops do in a lot of rain? I do not know and just as soon not have to find out. The michelines stick as well as the Bridgestones but the dunlops?

The Dunlops have been fine in the rain and snow. But maybe in your case you need fins instead

I have the Dunlops (first ones I have ever had on any vehicle) on my 450h and I have to admit that I like them. They exhibit much less road noise than the Michelins that were on the 2010 RX 350 loaner that I had during my last service.

I have used Michelins on just about every vehicle that I have owned (I have Continentals on my Audi A6) and have liked them, however if there is a big price difference at the time of replacement I may just stick with the Dunlops. It makes me wonder if maybe there is a dollar premium built into the Michelin name.

I am also taking a leap of faith in thinking that Lexus would put sufficient analysis into the tires that they would put on a vehicle to meet a high standard. If it were my company (How is that for wishful thinking?) I would have a great deal of difficulty putting out a $50k product and let a third party product such as tires, run the risk of driving my customer satisfaction numbers in a negative direction. I would want to drive those numbers not a tire manufacture.

Thank You but "I am also taking a leap of faith in thinking that Lexus would put sufficient analysis into the tires " I think they put tires on from whoever they can get the best price and the most in numbers of set. How else can you think they would have put the Goodyear
that came on some of the 2005 RX330 and others. But am glad that you like the Dunlops
and if they are on my new RX 450h I will give them a try.

Bridgestone Dueller H/L 400's came on my 2010 RX 450h. They are ranked as poor performing tires overall and especially in snow & ice. I ordered Michelins (Latitude Tour HP) from Tirerack immediately to replace them. I do not believe the Duellers are safe tires in winter conditions. It is too bad that they choose to place the low-rated tires on a quality vehicle.

when and look at our new 450h right after they took it off the truck and it has dunlops on it. I will see how well they do in the rain and hope they last a long (50k miles) time. Pick the car up on the 27th.
