im using 89th gas and i get 11.5 on average if i drive normally, jumps to 13 if i drive like an old lady - slow and mean NYC traffic makes you waste gas but once i get to suburban area or highways it jumps up to about 25mpg

I've had my 2015 RX 350 for a month with 3 or 4 fill-ups. I'm getting about 16 mpg around town. On one trip which was highway/freeway for half a tank I got 24 mpg (according to the readout on the car). My previous vehicle, a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe with the 3.3 liter V6 consistently got 18mpg in the city and 24-25 highway, exactly what it was rated at. Hopefully my in-town mpg will get a little better with the new RX.
Like I said--- great car, love everything about it except mpg.

No, I don't play soccer!
snowman22, please don't get the 450h just for better mileage. Not that you won't but it's so much more than MPG. BTW, it drops in cold weather just like your 350. You might wind up with the same problem. But if you're still heading in that direction, I'd suggest taking a look at the 450h mileage thread.

89 octane gas, i believe it is called Premium at BP gas stations, there 87 which is regular and 91 which is ultimate. i do the one in the middle most of the time, rarely i go with 91 octane ( mostly when i go on a long trip, it gives me way better mpg on the highway than 89 octane gasoline)

Back to Regular (87 octane)
I'm back to using regular grade gas in my 2011 RX350. Ran a test and did not reset the MPG indicator. I used hi-test (93 octane) for 2,331 miles (7 tanks) and got 22.8 MPG overall. I then reset the MPG and ran regular (87 octane) for the next 2.368 miles (7 tanks) and got 23.3 MPG overall. Driving patterns were unchanged over both tests and is about 75% highway and 25% local/around town.
Seems to me there is no detectable difference in performance and I see no reason to pay extra for hi-test.

We have a '11 RX350 FWD, premium recommended. When we bought the car Oct. 2013, the "cruising range" was about 325 miles, as we recall. We switched to regular for 14 months and the cruising range gradually went down to 295 miles, over time. We switched back to premium about two months ago and we notice the engine is quieter, without the noticeable constant "vroom", and the cruising range is creeping up. Mostly city driving, FWIW.

87 octane in our 2010 RX350
I suppose if I were the primary driver of our 2010 RX350, I would spend the extra 30 cents per gallon on premium gasoline because I drive the truck much harder than my wife. But, since she drives it 99% of the time, regular 87 octane works just fine. I haven't really spent too much effort comparing the difference in fuel economy, but I'm positive it would not be enough to justify the extra cost. Since I'm confident there will be no damage or long term adverse effects of burning regular instead of the recommended premium, we will continue the course as long as my wife is the primary operator of the RX.

Larry, that's not correct. In respect for the 2010 and 2011 RX 350 models, premium is REQUIRED as per the decal inside the fuel door and in the owners manual. 91 Octane or above is required. After that the 350 version such as your 2013 was reduced to regular or 87 octane. The RX450h still requires premium.

Look up your vehicle on this list. For the 2013 model year RX350 it reads 87 octane.
Is there any difference in the engine of the 2013 to the 2010.
I started to put 87 after reading this article. I did not see any fuel difference.
