hm this is wierd...
before i would average 17.5 MPG, ever since my first oil change i am now breaking 18.2 MPG. I also switched from vpower to BP 93.(dont want to start a war i prefer 93 ) but what could be the reason for my increase in MPG? my driving habits have not changed a bit

There have been reports that fuel blend makes some amount of difference... Not sure if where you live, the refineries change the blend of gasoline for summer like is done here in California with our very strict pollution guidelines and in some other States. Some of us see a difference in average MPG based on time of year because of perhaps that and ambient temperature changes. The combination may be a contributing factor impacting MPG even when using the same octane.

Consider yourself lucky at that mpg. We had a 2013 RX. Best I could do was 16.2. As soon as we would get into any aggressive driving need that mpg would drop like a rock to the 15 mpg range. We tried everything. Nothing would improve. Dealer could find nothing wrong. Would check tire pressure and anything else we would read on these blogs. There was one thing that did work though. It was a miracle. Traded it in and bought the RX450h. Just a miracle-- 28mpg and better-- in city driving. Problem solved.

Default 22 mpg

I have a 2013 RX 350 FWD with 18K miles and I average about 22 MPG all around with Regular 87 octane gasoline. Much of it depends on how you use the accelerator pedal. If you take off quickly then you will have lower MPG.

I just took my '11 on its first road/dive trip. I managed to get 570km out of 50.4L. I was using cruise control averaging 120kms; a nice improvement over my '05rx

For those of us who aren't familiar with the metric system, that comes out to 26.5 MPG. That's about what I was getting on an 800 mile trip while averaging 66 MPH.

The warm weather in the Midwest definitely brings back the gas mileage. We had a weekend trip of 477 miles of city, interstate and 2-lane road travel and used 20.66 gallons of regular unleaded fuel. Average of 23.1 mpg and riding in great comfort is why we like our RX350.

Just returned from a trip to Minnesota... 1032 miles 38.5 gallons = 26.8 MPG. 2014 RX 350 AWD, 87 octane E10 gas, 95% freeway, AC on all the way.

About to hit the road again on a 1400 mile trip.

The RX is really a great touring car.

Thats great , I started this post and with the warmer air Im up to about 17.2 MPG out here on Eastern Long Island. Don't know if you want to use any of that ethanol gas though , heard some bad things about it messing up valves unless thats all there is out there. On the road Im around 26-27 my problem is around here and this isn't any were near City driving its 17.2 and winter around 13.4-14..
Now I have to use premium gas also and the 2014 can use regular but thats still good mpg I would think and your right it is a nice touring car. Love long trips.

We've had our 15RX since April and have been consistently getting 19-20MPG in the city. We're in Canada so it's 11.4-12.5 L/100km for us.

Very happy so far. Our MDX was worse and on premium gas as well! We've only been using 87 octane in the RX. Too much of a price difference here in Canada. The premium can be 16-18 cents more PER LITER!! It's crazy. Very happy to be able to run regular.

Isn't MPG directly correlated to MPH?
0 MPH = 0 MPG. There is probably a sweet spot usually around 55-60MPH where MPG is maximized as average MPH goes up so does MPG until it reached peak point then it starts to go down.
How is sharing just one number helpful to anyone?
Will it help someone if I say that I fill up twice per months?

I drove from PA to NYC and my tank only went down two bars. The trip was 190 miles and I thought that was pretty good.

2013 RX. Just took a trip from Dallas area to Denver CO ... 85 octane, 5 adults, AC on always, speed was mostly 75-80 mph freeway driving and only got 23.6 mpg average. True the climb dents the mpg but return trip was slightly worse...22.3. mpg! Wind plays a big factor also.

Mileage is a affected by drag. Drag is primarily road friction, and aerodynamic drag, which increases dramatically with speed. The faster you go, the more aerodynamic drag on the car, and the harder the engine has to work.....meaning lower gas mileage. I would think idle power would be closer to maximum mileage.....not 55-60mph.
