The 3RX Gas Mileage Thread
#796
I have found the computer to be very accurate on my 2013 RX. However, make sure you are looking at the "milage after fill up", and not the "average". I don't know where the "average" figure comes from, but it has never given any significant data for me the entire time I have owned the car. The "milage after fill up", on the other hand, seems to be very accurate, and also resets itself automatically after each fill up.
That being said, 12-13 mpg seems low, but could be correct if you do a lot of local, and stop and go driving, or are on the gas and brake pedals alot. I normally get 15-18 mpg local, and 23+ mpg on the interstates, but have gotten as low as 14 mpg local.

last year i bought a venza v6 and the computer never went lower then 18-20 mpg. Both car are 90% city driven.

I am surprised by the variance in mpg owners have experienced. My 2010 RX350 FWD now has 95,xxx miles and I’ve seen a low of 20.1 in the winter to a high of 25.0.

So the vehicle is the same and my driving style is also the same but the driving environment now encompasses a lot more stop and go. I dropped 4 mpg just by being in this environment. That said, everything is close to where I live here in Florida, so I don't put many miles on the vehicle and thus don't give a whit about gas milage.
Of interest is also the gas mileage variance based on city/highway driving. On average I get around 18-19 mpg when 100% city driving and 25-26 mpg when 100% highway driving.
So it is not surprising to me that this vehicle would only deliver 9-10 mpg in a larger city, in the winter months, with lots of stop and go driving especially if there is hilly terrain involved.

I have been reading the fuel and mpg thread and i have some questions. How accurate is the odo computer ?
My mpg are nowhere like other rx driver.
My computer is alway showing 18-19 L/100 km so this is 12-13 mpg which is very low IMO.
is there anyway to reset it ? I cant imagine what will be my mileage in winter lol.

My best is 9.3 L/100 km (highway, trip at 120 Km/hr)

Just bought a 2012 RX 350 AWD and so far my MPG has been 20-23 with about 20% city and 80% highway. This is figured the old fashion way miles from fill up to fill up and the actual gallons. I don't consider that terrible, but my 2005 GX470 used less gas following the RX on the same 200 mile trip home after I bought it. Since that time (about 600-800 miles) I find the GX and RX almost the same for the miles we put on. I would have thought the RX would be much better. The GX rides better so if this keeps up I might just sell the RX and buy another GX

My avg is 17 , thats total for everything since new. 70k miles. so far, summer gets up to 17.5 or so and winter goes down about 1mpg. I live 60 miles east off NYC on Long Island where its no where near city type driving. Its the only thing about the car I don't like. Tires are always inflated correctly and it gets its 5km service at Lexus always. The injectors are noisy like tappets when valves go but they tell me its normal. My neighbors 2010 is quiet yet my daughter in laws 2013 rx is noisy like mine. They both do better mpg than me..

Yeah that would have been sweet. I liked the Hybrid, it was the cost though. We actually were on the way to NJ about 2hour drive to look at one in stock but I stopped at the local Lexus here and bought this or rather the wife did lol.

We have a 2011 RX350 AWD. We have had it since August 2014. I rarely drive the car, wife’s car. I recently drove 200 highway miles and got 21.5mpg. Regular gas and doing the math (not trip computer). I expected better but..... Oh, I didn’t exceed 75 mph.

I have an 2007 RX 350 and getting 23.5 mpg using 93 octane. Also, I have 2012 RX 350 getting 21.4 mpg 93 octane. If I put regular in the 2012 which is recommended by the manufacture I will get 17-18 mpg. That is a big different between 87 regular and 93 octane. That is almost 65 mile different. So I stick to 93 octane cost a little more but I prefer to get the mpg
