Default 2011 rx350 body side moldings dealer?

Just bought a rx350 .Dealer is offering bodyside molding and door moldings as a ki for 850$
Is that about right for this kit . Do they have a sperate one just for side molding or should I buy it myself from the vender here. its $160 without the club discount and $133 with it for the color matching. Thanks

I would only do the side moldings. That seems like a lot of money that the dealer is charging. If you are handy you can do them yourself, they come with complete instructions.

Don't do that deal. It sounds like a rip-off. You can buy the side moldings from Sewell Lexus for around $100. That's what I did and had my Toyota dealer install them. The best I remember I had $205 in them otd. I don't know about the door edge guards.

Talking Body side moulding!

I ordered the side moulding from Sewell and installed it myself. It is not too difficult if you prep the area with some prep solvent and use masking tape to set the proper height. There is a left and right moulding so you should tape them on temporarily first to ensure you have the proper one for each side. It took about an hour to install both sides. It looks great and will help to protect against door dings.
Good luck!

You can do it yourself, its very easy just follow the instructions.. Just have somebody there to assist you and hold the other end. And even if you miss the mark by a few millimeters, NOBODY would notice Besides even the ones who install it in body shops may miss the mark occasionally

Here is my "masterpiece" I could have missed by few millimeters

Default Prep solvent!

I purchased a can of spray prep solvent from a local Napa auto parts store.
It is required to remove any wax or polish that may cause the mouldings to not adhere properly. It worked just fine.

There is.
My side molding installer used this which made the surface of the paint tacky for better adhesion.
Does come off easily with alcohol if need be.

Cool

Thanks to all for your help, just got the car yesterday and it's a beauty, love the ride and all the gismo's . Wifey is happy and I get the moldings from Sewel in a day or 2 . Now she wants me to find someone to install it So I guess Ill call my local Toyota guy . Im sure he will do it for me since I have bought several cars from them . I tried to get Lexus here in Smithtown where I bought it to drop the price from 895 for body side moldings but they said the best they would do is 595. I offered them 300 to do it for me and they said no. I don't know but it seems that is a $200 profit for about 20 minutes work.Go figure . Guess Toyota will get the money . Anyway , this forum is great and Ill be around hopefuly I can help someone else one day.

i don't think this hard to do, only need measurement. That's it. I still can't do it with my car. The weather outside ~35'C. Gosh, have to wait for a warmer day.
