The thing is that's a commercial/company car. So maybe the owner didn't know
for real.
I also bought the rear bumper guard for god sake. I'll post pix later this week when I have my car back.

Man, you're lucky you were quick enough to get his plate number. Good luck with the repairs.

I am sure that the body shop have done a superb job on your car. Good luck!

Let us know how it looks. I've had bad and good experiences with body shops in the past. And I've repaired a car once, myself. So now I know what to do in advance.

Also, my thinking is this would interfere with the solenoid switch that triggers the airbags.

just another way to protect your rear bumper from minor scratches and minor accidents, if I live lets say LA or NY I will probably consider putting one. And about the crumple thing, I think it's design for a head on collision, and there is no airbag sensors at the rear bumper but I'm not 100% sure..

I wouldn't be too sure of that. In 2006, I was involved in a car accident. I was driving a 2002 Nissan Maxima. I was basically T-boned near the right front quarter panel of my car by a young kid who happened to be driving a Nissan Maxima that was a generation before my 2002 Max, and the kid had run a stop sign. The impact caused me to cross over into the opposite lane and off to the side of the road, and I ran into some four-foot tall posts at the corner of a building. Long story short, it made a V all the way up into the engine, and the air bags went off and I had contusions on my left arm and my stomach.
The car was totalled.

Guess what? Even though the accident wasn't my fault and though no money came out of my pocket, you can bet the insurance company jacked up my semi-annual rate at the next renewal!! In fact, it appears that it's taken four years for my insurance rate to really, really drop after shopping for insurance again.

Of course, when it came time to purchase my next car, that's how I became a member of the Lexus family.

Did you file the accident through your own insurance? Or through the other kid's?

^Even if the accident wasn't your fault, your insurance still gives you an accident points and I think it's there for 3 years.
