15k Checkup--What is it and why is it so expensive?

There are enough customers who bring their cars to Lexus and keep the Lexus repair shops in business.
These customers believe the Lexus experience is important for them, or because the customers only want Lexus techs to work on the cars. That's their choice.
For other customers, they have alternatives for non-warranty services:
- Toyota shops
- Independent shops
- DIY
To avoid Lexus sticker shock, you should get a good idea how much it would cost before signing the work order.
At some Lexus dealership, it is very easy.
Their website provides a way to schedule an appointment,
and while doing so, you can see prices for maintenance items and for repair items.
Each item actually lists what type of work will be done or the parts to be changed.

A savvy customer can take the list from Lexus and ask a different shop to do the same work for a likely lower price, w/o the Lexus experience of course.

Stay there the whole day to eat their breakfast and lunch sandwiches.
Better yet, make it a family day.

I just checked my local (Tampa) Lexus website. They list the basic 15,000 mi service at $354.95 + tax !!!! Looks like I'll be heading to my local Toyota dealer in a couple months!

For the 450h the only thing on the list to replace at 15,000 miles is the smart remote battery. Everything else is clean, check or adjust.....

I just had 15k service done on my 450h at local mechanic shop and paid $98 for what Lexus quoted me a price of $250. I had oil and filter change, tire rotation, check fluids and "everything" which knowing him I'm sure he did. But don't know if he tightened the "axle shaft bolts". What is this and why is it to be done only on 450h AWD??? Would any of this really come loose at 15k miles?
