I'm surprised to hear it is colored plastic. According the the description on the UK Lexus site it is supposed to be brushed aluminum. Anyone can confirm this info?
I REALLY like that look. Can some vendor bring it to stateside?
Group Buy anyone????
+1 if there are any vendors on this board.
I did leave some inquires with 2 dealerships in the UK and am waiting to hear back. However I'm thinking with shipping, customs, and the exchange rate that it may be cost prohibitive if I did this alone.
here are some more photos I have found. In the close up it does indeed look like plastic and not aluminum. Note the LED headlights in the second picture! Why don't we get that option?!?!?
Not for plastic. I'd rather have someone customize the piece for the same price in some kind of metal. I'd be afraid of the plastic discoloring.
To reproduce that in sheet metal, my guess would be to drop hammer it due to the contours and combination of the lip on the edge. Anyone brave enough to try??? You would just have to get a hold of a piece and reverse engineer it, maybe laser scan it into a 3D model. After that it would be easy :P
Looks much better than Euro version. A skid plate in attached to under body to protect exhaust and brake lines. What you see in front is plastic front bumper cover not a skid plate. See example of aftermarket I found via Google. Not cosmetic, but protective. http://www.alibaba.com/product-tp/11...XUS_RX350.html
Yes they are the front and rear under runs available in the UK and Europe. They cost about £400 for the front and £250 for the rear. So in dollars thats about $600 for the front and $380 for the rear.
HOWEVER, the 2013 facelift models have a different front under run. The rear one is the same for all model years.
Below is the new under run for 13 MY:
Its very tough plastic, no chance of breaking and its really just there for aesthetics. It just makes it look much better IMO. The new front under run has a wider section of silver plastic to match with the wide spindle grill.
