yes, the saphire black color was an option for 2010 but was discontinued for 2011 models. Common complaints were that it was easy to see swirls in

Also the carfax says that it was registered as a corporate fleet vehicle. Ask the dealership if this was a loaner car (the courtesy vehicles they give their customers to drive while their cars are in for an oil change). I would highly reconsider purchasing the car if in fact it was a loaner vehicle since those cars are abused both in interior mess and also probably drive train.

Also if you do end up purchasing the car, I would suggest you haggle to a price around 32.5K

Also the RX was built in Canada based on the VIN.

Interesting note about loaners, my dealer only uses them for a year before selling. But I agree with RXSF, you'd be amazed what people do to them. I'm probably the only person that returns a loaner in better condition than when I picked it up I found a checkbook the last time stuck between the driver seat and middle console.

The 2010 black sapphire blue is gorgeous. When I found out they weren't replacing it with another blue in 2011 I quickly bought a 2010 before they were gone. Otherwise, I would have purchased a 2011.

LexRexBlue, it does look nice, i might check it out. Although the "corporate fleet" carfax has put me off somewhat. Its a toss up between the RX and an MDX i still cant decide LOL.

How did they put on 12000 miles in 6 days?

85mph * 23 hours (24h - 1hour of filling gas and restroom time) * 6day 12 hours = 12707 miles. if they drive at 85mph straight for 6 and half days. LOL. Yes they can. LMAO

Finally opened the Carfax report. Super slow network at work

Lexus of Edison is also owned by the same dealer I go to. It's hard to say if was a loaner based on the one year rule. Miles are high too. Their big sale on them was back in March. The service manager said they are super picky about damage to loaners. The car is thoroughly checked over and prepped beforehand. It looks pretty good if it was a loaner.

To be honest, I'll buy this car for 31.5K - 32K, no more than that.

These electronic records are chocked full of errors, don't put too much faith in them. When I took my IS350 in for a recall the system showed it had 180,000 mi on it, the time prior to that someone typed in 180,000 instead of 18,000. It happens and is diffiuclt to fix. Carfax is a guide, but it's not the Holy Word. Sometimes stuff doesn't get reported or misreported.

Black Sapphire is a nice color in the sunlight.....a very dark blue. But looks black at night. Not too hard to keep clean.

Thanks for your input guys. Dealer confirmed it was a loaner and the mileage was an error. That said do you guys think this is a sound car to purchase? Or stay away and get a "certified one" ?

I think most of us will stay away from loaner vehicles. As mentioned above, people do not treat these cars with respect--footprints all over the seats, crumbs everywhere, etc. I for one am very ocd about my car and the idea of having hundreds of people having sat on that driver's seat is an issue for me. You will have to judge whether or not this bothers you.

Is it that difficult in your area to find another black sapphire color? Take your time in finding the perfect vehicle. If you dont mind the loaner, I would be sure to show distaste for the car so that you can lower the price more. Loaners should be priced below fair market value

^ Boo. I definitely don't do that and still park out in the middle of nowhere. Now when I rented cars years ago that was a whole different story

flyncus, I checked my dealer and they only had a light blue one with 15K similar to the one you're looking at. Have you considered a different color maybe?
