jskennedy, do you have smaller wheels on the car as compared with what the vehicle originally came with? the reason I ask is that if the electonics/odometer/speedometer is calibrated for onse size of wheels, using a smaller sized wheel would result in the electronics showing higher gas mileage.

Well now....new report from aments saying close to 40 mpg on hwy and 24 to 26 mpg in the city.......c'mon guys, this is not fantasyland is it....let's get real....

But YES - My RX350 is within it's break-in period. But looking at fuel efficiency of daily commute - during HWY stretches, hitting close to 40MPG (yes I was amazed too), while combined with city, averaging 24-26MPG. Will track it for more accuracy after I get past 5k miles.

Is that really hard to believe? Fantasy - NO. Fact - YES!

still have the original 18" wheels/tires that vehicle was purchased with

i also manually calculate every tank of gas

after 86 tanks of gas & 31k miles, the computer averages 0.7% higher than manual calculations

guessing smehta's 40mpg is real time readings, not average

if that's the case, i also see these #'s

i can hit 35mpg avg driving 40mph on flat highway

i'm sure someone will not believe that, but b4 calling shenanigans on me go out & reset you avg-mpg display & try your own vehicle, you might be surprised

Thanks for the concern but where are you getting these info since you sound so sure about this? If that is a safety concern, it would have been a printed recommendation on any gas stations or vehicle manual. Also, it is already cooled with the fuel running through it.

As for that guy with the down hill problem? There's so many things wrong on that scenario and that guy never posted what the findings are from lexus. He left the car idle on a downhill but did he locked the DOORS? there's a posibility someone was messing with his RX. Unlikely? But a possibility. I asked him that question, others asked many questions but just very vague answers. I highly doubt putting a vehicle in park will make it roll down hill.

And as far as anything that can go wrong, it'll go wrong even if you're at atmost care. Things go wrong, that's life.

Interesting discussion. On a long drive best I believe I have had so far is 25; average about 20.

Seriously guys. I'm always a rough driver (crazy in gas pedal). That's why i'm only get average 18mph. However, recently i changed my driving habit, it gets up 24-26 average mph. You should do so too. The picture i got up to 30 miles MPH that i was driving 50-55mph on my 100 miles highway trip. I was horned by lots of people when driving 50 miles on the highway like an 80 years old person 2 days ago. Hahahah, what an experiment.
