Default My first day in my new RX

First time experience with Lexus, I always had BMWs and Mercedes and I decided to give it a try.

So far my first day was a good impression but I am disappointed and the Telephone interface.

I looked everywhere and went to every menu but I couldn't find the answer anywhere.

While the truck is moving you can't dial a number using your contact list or even dial a number using the interface. I need to use my iphone to find a contact or dial using my the phone itself. When the car is stopped then there is no problem. Can you disable this feature ?

Also My display doesn't show XM sport or XM stock even if I have a XM subscription. Does it need to be programmed by the dealer ?

I remember the call answer button is under "Info","phone" interface. I have to check it when I drive it tomorrow. But why not use the call answer button on the steering wheel?

For contact list, unfortunately you have to transfer the contact list from your phone to the car in order to find you contact list on the car interface where you can make a dial from it. Obviously there is a privacy issue as anyone can see your phone numbers when you take your car to the shop/dealership.

The answer is those features are locked out while moving. You can buy something to override that. Or try the voice command.

Easy way to deal with calling out while travelling:

Setup your Quick Call Buttons on the NAV display. There are 3 pages of buttons, with 6 buttons each. ALL of those can be called while vehicle is moving, and without touching your iPhone.

I think those features are locked out while moving for safety reasons. Voice commands are recommended and would be best to use while on the move.

XM sports, stocks and weather were the first things I dumped. My phone is more informative.

You need to set up which teams and stocks you wish it to report on. It's in one of the set up menus.

I'll find it, if you need.

I believe they are locked out for safety.

The car holds up to four phones and contact lists. I believe a contact list is only available when that particular phone is actively Bluetooth connected to the car. Although with the right computer and software plugged into a service port on the car, I would imagine everything would be available and be a privacy concern.

Some good advices for the politicians, don't sync your phone if you have any call girls on it.

wyau01, I see you're from NY. Are you speaking from experience

Same with nav, get rid of addresses It never ceases to amaze me how many people do not erase their destinations from a loaner

Anita brings up an excellent point. Most, if not all, of the destinations include phone numbers. And that address book, eDestinations, Destination Assist destinations, and whatever else, is clearly available to anyone with access to your key fob.

Anita,
No, I'm just an employee in a company owned by a politician.

Former or present

All kidding aside, you can't be too cautious nowadays. I found a checkbook in a loaner once. I called the dealer to let them know. A coworker dropped it off at the person's house. So check under/between the seats too before you hand over the keys.

I have manually inputted several names and phone numbers that were in the contacts list on my cell phone into the Lexus phone system and I am able to call out the numbers that I inputted into the Lexus system by either hitting the voice button and saying, first, "Dial by Name", and when it asks you for the name, you say the name, and if the number was inputted manually by me, it will dial the number while the car is moving after I hit the off hook switch. I also have certain phone numbers on my presets on the radio that are very handy.
