Question Audio System with Nav

Hi, I'm a new club member and new owner. I have a quick question concerning the audio system. When playing a CD the screen says NO DATA. It does not display the CD title, artist, or song. Is this normal. In all of my previous cars this info is displayed on the screen. I'm I missing something. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Welcome to CL!

It depends on the CD i think. If the CD is created without CD text encoded then it will not show up. I have 2 CDs in my CD changer, 1 my daughter's sing a long CD and it has no data, and the other Jay-Z the Blueprint III LOL and it has the data for all the track names and album name. I'm not sure if the Lexus audio system only reads certain discs in terms of the CD text but I know it works just fine on my 2011 RX 350.

I have the changer loaded with 6 CD's and none of them identify title, artist, or track. All say NO DATA. They are all over 5 yrs. old, but they were identified on my last ride, a 2010 Mercedes GLK. When did CD's start encoding info? I guess I will have to buy a new CD and try it. Do you have older CD's that display the info? I'm trying to find out if my system is working correctly. thanks

are those 6 CDs in an international language or were they burned on your computer?

Also, if your car is moving, you won't see any data, at least for the radio stations.

The age of the CD nor the fact that it was burned have anything to do with the text appearing. I have CD's from the '90's that show the text while one that we baught last week doesn't. I also have burned CD's (back-ups) that show the texts and others that don't.

Also, if the vehicle is in motion you can still get to the "text" screen which will show you the info.

While it is frustrating it really doesn't take anything away from the music.

OK, thanks for the responses. It seems kind of hit and miss, although all 6 in my changer are misses. To answer RXSF question, they are store bought CD's that displayed on other vehicles. The Lexus system does not seem optimal, but as k9shelly1 says the music still lives.

it does matter if you burned it yourself because there is an option, at least on iTunes, to burn with CD data or not

Ditto especially if you have the NAV system. Fully controllable from the mouse. Sounds better too.
