Default A question on my '11 RX350

My question on this vehicle pertains to the headlights. I currently have the halogen headlights and after having the '09 IS250 it irks me that I didn't think about the Xenon lights. So far I found some solutions, from the forums, and from what I thought about. Also, if it's at all possible if you guys can input your thoughts into this as I'm looking for the most effective way to tackle this... issue. Thank you in advanced.

1. Change the bulb into a brighter bulb.
2. Get an HID kit.
3. Go to the dealership and ask if they can get it installed ( probably expensive and not plausible(?) )

I'm currently open to what everyone's thoughts are in this. My guess is that if i want to least amount of work done it'll have to be the brighter bulb. Most expensive will be the dealership ( but my guess is that I'll get the AFS also (?) ). The one that is between them all is the HID kit but I'm not positive on if that will be for me...

Once again it would be appreciated what your thought's are and what maybe a better option... if any.

#3 is out. How long have you had the car? You could always swap it for another 350 but it could be a lot of $$ to do it if you had it for more that a few days. Did you buy it or lease it?

It's probably not worth the hassle, you might just have to learn to live with it. Swapping over to xenon's is not without risk as threads on the IS forum will attest, problems arise, and on a lease car who needs problems like that.

INteresting, had this go through my head last year. Ended up using Sylvania Silverstars. They're definitely more expensive then regular halogen, but look whiter/brighter, very close to HID's from my viewpoint. The main drawback is the longevity, and many forums/blogs note less than 1 year of life on those bulbs, although we don't leave our lights on auto mode (turning on/off from pulling out of the garage apparently kills these faster) and we've had ours for a year now. With about 50k miles on the clock, and after reading a thread about Xenon Depot's HID kit, and especially it's owner and his support, I will go with the HID later this year. Just my $0.02 since I went through the exact same issue a year ago.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY USA!

After much thought and collecting up some more information I figured changing the bulbs will be the only thing I can really do. However, I was wondering if someone can guide me to a website with more... current information on halogen bulbs, if anyone has it. It would be greatly appreciated.

Just wondering if anyone did a bulb swap? If so, what bulbs did you go to and how long did they last for ya'll? I know it's different on everyone cause of all the variables but I'd just like to know. Thank you in advanced.

On my Toyota Matrix I switched out the bulbs with Silverstars and they double as DRLs and Lowbeams so they were on all the time. I've had them last anywhere from 6 months to 1 year and I've switched them out at least 4 times before going back to stock because it started to become a pain. I've looked into various brands thinking maybe if I should try them out again for the RX 350 fogs but I think I would rather invest in an HID conversion kit instead. They are rated 4000K/4100K so they are whiter than stock but not as white as stock HIDs which are rated 4300K. The biggest complaint regardless of brand is they burn out way faster than stock halogens. Some of popular brands, but not limited to, that people usually recommend without going with the cheapo blue bulbs are listed below.

Sylvania Silverstar Ultra

Philips Crystal Vision Ultra

GE Nighthawk Sport

For more info I suggest reading through the Lighting forum. I found a lot of great info there. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lighting-128/
