according to lexus.ca, this is what they say about corrosion perforation:

Corrosion Perforation
Any body sheet metal found, under normal use, to have developed a perforation (hole through the body panel) from corrosion due to defects in material or workmanship is under warranty for 72 months (from the warranty registration date) regardless of distance travelled.

i would assume this warranty is standard throughout the world...

paint sucks for lexus as well. picks up scratches and swirls way too easily, not to mention rock chips. clear bra is the only solution unfortunately...

I just toured the Toyota / Lexus factory in Cambridge, ON, Canada and I asked when they stopped using single stage paint, the tour guide did not know. He said however, everything today at Cambrige is clear coated.

This may not be true at the 64 other Toyota production facilities around the world.

Apologies for my stupid question - but could you explain " clear coat" and "1-stage" paint please ?

^to my understanding, clear coat protects the paint underneath it and 1-stage paint is like 1 layer of paint or coating, no 2nd coating is applied. Paint last longer if it's coated 2 or more times.

X,

I don't know about worst paint job, but I think they do a good job just with very delicate paint (in my humble and very limited experience opinion).

whilst browsing for information - i came across this:

https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lex...mi-Files-Paint

Quote " If you own a Lexus, then you know that what you see every day is that topcoat luster. But what you don’t see is what Sakakibara, his paint Takumi predecessors, and the Lexus paint specialists they’ve trained have created underneath—a six-layered system that exceeds the industry norm for quality "

True.
Lexus/Yota = Soft/delicate paint = Easy damaged = Easy correction = Easier to maintain a nice polished car ... BUT, does not necessarily mean crappy inferior paint.
